Why TruRace

Don't just race the clock.
Race people.

Traditional races are exciting, but most runners are never truly in the hunt to win. TruRace makes race day feel more meaningful by matching athletes against others at a similar level.

The TruRace edge

You don’t need to be the fastest.
You just need to win your race.

How it works

A better competitive experience in four steps.

Step 1

Join TruRace

Create your TruRace profile, join the pilot, and tell us which races you already want to run.

Step 2

Get placed in a heat

We group athletes into small, evenly matched heats—usually 7 to 8 competitors—based on recent race performance and fairness.

Step 3

Race the event you were already doing

You still run an existing organized race. TruRace adds the matched-heat layer, leaderboard logic, and prize competition.

Step 4

Win your race

Instead of getting lost in a huge field, you compete against runners closer to your level for a real shot at winning.

Race friends

Same race. Fairer bragging rights.

Friends heats let runners of different speeds compete together in the same event. TruRace locks each runner's expected time, uses the official race result for the actual finish, and ranks the group by who beats their handicap the most.

Friends heats are social only: no prize payouts and no TruRace leaderboard points.

1. Create

Start a friends heat while registering for a race.

2. Invite

Share an invite code or email friends in your group.

3. Rematch

Track bragging rights and run it back at the next race.

Built for real competition

Not everyone can be the fastest.
But everyone should have a chance to win.

TruRace is about meaningful competition, not genetic lottery leaderboards. It gives more runners a reason to show up, track progress, and compete with purpose.

Founding members pilot

Help shape the first TruRace season.

We are launching through an early pilot centered on a limited number of races. Founding members will help validate the format, experience the first matched heats, and may be eligible for TruRace-funded rewards under published pilot rules.

Independent platform notice

TruRace is an independent running competition platform. TruRace is not a race organizer and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or approved by any listed race, event, organizer, timing company, or venue unless we state that relationship explicitly.

Pilot goals

  • Launch at selected early races
  • Build fair and exciting heat competition
  • Publish clear pilot eligibility and reward rules
  • Learn what runners love before broad rollout
  • Form the first core TruRace community

Help bring TruRace to your next race

The more runners who request the same event, the higher we prioritize it.

TruRace is building runner demand while seeking race organizer approval. Tell us where you are already planning to run, and share the link with runners doing the same race.

An easy first step

Not ready to commit to a specific race yet? Suggest one anyway. Runner interest helps us decide where fair matched heats should be proposed first.

Want TruRace near you?

Join the expansion list and tell us where to go next.

TruRace will expand based on where runner demand is strongest. If you saw an ad from somewhere outside the first pilot area, this is the right path.

FAQ

Questions runners will ask right away

Is TruRace putting on its own races?

No. TruRace is a competition layer built on top of existing races. You register for the underlying race, and TruRace organizes the matched-heat competition around it.

Who is this for?

Runners who want a more meaningful shot at winning, not just participating in a huge field where only the fastest few are ever competitive for prizes.

Is this just a participation trophy?

No. TruRace does not make everyone a winner. It creates smaller, better-matched heats so runners have to earn results against people closer to their level.

How big are the heats?

Usually 7 to 8 runners. We want heats small enough to feel meaningful and fair.

Can I race friends who are faster or slower than me?

Yes. Friends heats are a social TruRace feature where runners in the same race can compete by handicap. Official race results provide the actual finish times, then TruRace ranks the group by who beat their expected time the most. Friends heats do not award payouts or leaderboard points.

Where is this launching first?

TruRace is starting with a focused founding pilot before expanding based on runner demand.

Is this gambling?

No. TruRace is a skill-based race competition using actual running performance, verified results, and clear competition rules.

Do I have to pay during the pilot?

No. The founding pilot signup is free while TruRace collects runner interest and builds the first race demand.
